Chamber of Commerce in California Keeps Their Membership Current with Membership System
Chamber of Commerce is an organization in that promotes commerce in the area. Although it is non-profit, it needs income to prosper. The organization is made up of businesses. Each participating business must pay annual dues for the chamber to remain strong.
There are benefits to belonging to a group; civic leadership, making local contacts, attending meetings and events, and having access to research and publications. While the benefits are many, the organization still has the underlying problem of running their organization accurately. This means getting the members invoiced, staying in contact with them, and getting their payments in and recorded.
Large organizations have special challenges. Membership System is designed manage a large group as easily as possible. In this membership example, there were:
1. four employees in charge of new members
2. two people in charge of billing and collections
3. one person in charge of marketing.
The entire Membership organization is in the software at the same time. New membership is working with the database, following up leads that come in from the site and setting up new contacts that come in to the office. Billing and Collections is issuing invoices daily (using the auto-invoice feature) and working the Past Due Accounts report. Marketing is sending Email Newsletters monthly and Regular Mail Newsletters quarterly. Using Membership System they have built a strong group that is doing great things. |
